Hello, I have been having a little break from my tattoo hunting but here I am today sitting having coffee with my mum here in El Medano, Tenerife and Ian has just joined us.

Ian is a very nice 52 year old chap from Nottingham in England. He has two tattoos. They are both on his forearms.

SNAKE TATTOO

He has a snake tattoo on his left forearm which he chose because he liked the design and it cost him £5 about 30 years ago.

Do tattoos hurt I asked him to which he answered yes. He told me that he had had his tattoo inked by Jim the tattoo artist and that it felt like little pricks.

He added that the tattoo parlour was clean and that he had chosen a snake tattoo as it was the thing to do at the time and that the design caught his eye.

NOTTINGHAM CREST TATTOO – N.F.F.C. TATTOO

On his left forearm Ian has got a Nottingham Crest Tattoo with N.F.F.C. written above it. He told me that N.F.F.C. stands for Nottingham Forest Football Club which he supports.

This tattoo he had inked a year after the snake tattoo and it cost about 50 pence more.

He went on to say that if he had his time again he would have had his tattoos inked on his upper arms so that he could cover them up as and when necessary.

He said that these days a lot more thought goes into tattoos and tattoo designs.

Well it is a really glorious day here in Xeraco.

I am in my favourite spot in front of Bar Paco, but not with my usual Hot Chicken and Cheese roll.  In fact, I have not had anything to eat yet as I could not resist talking to 2 young girls.

Miriam, who I have known for years was sitting have a cold drink with Concha.

Concha is Spanish and 20 years old has only had her tattoos for a couple of months.

STAR HAND TATTOO

 She has two  tattoos a hand tattoo, which is a Star with a footprint inside  it. Her sister who is 18 years old has a star with footprint inside it tattoo too.

BUTTERFLY SHOULDER TATTOO

Concha  also has a butterfly tattoo on her shoulder she told me that she had had the two tattoos inked on the same day.

These tattoos cost her about 100 euros.  She had them inked on her skin by a professional tattoo artist in the next town.  She said that the tattoo parlour was very clean.

She had chosen her tattoo designs on the spot.

She does not regret having them inked on her skin but is not sure if she will have anymore tattoos done. 

Do tattoos hurt?  She told me that the butterfly shoulder tattoo had hurt more than the star hand tattoo.

Rose and Bird Tattoo  – Cristina

It is quite chilly here this evening. The temperatures have dropped at least 10 degrees.

I have just eaten a delicious pizza in Bar Paco.

Tania who is 36 years old and from the Dominican Republic used to work in Bar Paco but now she lives in Barcelona.

I have never seen her in shorts before.

She came over to say hello and I noticed her tattoo, so naturally as she knows me she started to tell me about it.

She said that her mum, Cristina had died 10 years ago at the age of 52.

Cristina had loved roses that is why she chose a Rose tattoo. 

She said that the bird had been tattooed above the Rose to finish off the Rose and Bird Tattoo.

This Rose and Bird tattoo cost her 60 Euros.

She did not go to a tattoo parlour.  The tattoo artist a man from Brazil went to her flat.

It took 3 sessions to finish her tattoo.

Do tattoos hurt?  I asked.

And she said of course they do.  They hurt a lot.

Ana is back in the tattoo parlour having a Back Of The Neck Tattoo inked on her.

She had told me in her last interview that she intended having her sister Ines’ name in Arabic Lettering tattooed  a back of the neck tattoo.  In fact, she actuay had a butterfly tattoo done too.

She had said that I could go and video her having her backof neck tattooed inked, but unfortuately I was not free that day.

She had gone to the tattoo parlour with two friends and one had agreed to record it BUT unfortunately her friend an X student of mine accidently rubbbed it off.

Lucky enough she managed to record a little bit of the final procedure.

SUN TATTOO – SUN LOWER ARM TATTOO

Svetlomir is a friend of Ivan’s

He is from Bulgaria and is 41 years old.

He lives in Spain.

He has got two arm tattoos a Girl and Wolf Tattoo on his upper arm and a Sun Tattoo on his low arm.

Do tattoos hurt I asked him.  He said that tattoos do not hurt

He went on to tell me that his tattoos were free as his friend had inked them on his body for nothing.

Sometime later Rosa went to a different tattoo in the nearby town, Gandia.

She had her Witch Ankle Tattoo inked there.

She also had two stars and a moon tattooed.

Do tattoos hurt I asked her.

She said that her Witch Ankle Tattoo  really hurt that is why

She did not have any more tattoos inked on herself.

When Rosa had her Ladybird tattoo inked she had her Rose Tattoo done at the same time.

She cannot remember how much they cost as here in Spain they used pestas then.

Here I am again enjoying the sun between classes.

Rosa is the mother of one of my ex students.

She is 51 years old and lives in Xeraco, Valencia Spain.

About 20 years ago Rosa had her 3 tattoos inked on her body.

She had her Ladybird Hand Tattoo inked on her by a French tattoo artist who used to have a tattoo parlour in Xeraco.

3 STARS TATTOOS – MY STARS

When I asked Maria Jose why she had had the 3 Star-Tattoo inked on her chest she told me that they were HER 3 STARS. MY STARS.

Her 3 Star-Tattoo cost her 50 Euros.
